We appreciate your interest in getting involved with SAGAA. Our Board meetings are open to the public upon request, and we would be glad to welcome anyone interested in learning more about SAGAA’s work.
We have several committees that welcome enthusiastic volunteers. In particular, our Engagement Committee offers ongoing opportunities for volunteers to help plan events, write our quarterly newsletter, and support member engagement. Additionally, our Board of Directors is a volunteer board, which regularly welcomes new members. Beyond committee and Board service, here are several ways you can get involved:
- Stay informed by signing up for our newsletter.
- Share information about SAGAA with your university and, if applicable, your actuarial science club, Gamma Iota Sigma chapter, or other student organizations.
- Participate in our community events, both virtual and in-person.
- Join our membership site and be an active participant by starting discussions, facilitating conversations, and sharing your personal experiences. To join, visit our SAGAA Page, click Join Community, log in using your preferred method, and select Sign up.
- Consider developing potential presentation topics related to actuarial work and the queer community, or even pursuing a self-directed research project on one of those topics. SAGAA can provide guidance as needed.
We also encourage you to join your company’s queer Employee Resource Group (ERG), if one exists. If your company does not have one, SAGAA has an ERG starter guide we can share and can offer support as you navigate the process. That can also be a great way to partner with SAGAA and stay engaged with our work.
We would love to have you involved! If any of these opportunities interest you, please reach out to secretary@sagaactuaries.org.
